At 4.22 meters in length, is almost the same as that of a VW Golf, yet the manoeuvrable compact Yeti curves effortlessly through city traffic where larger SUVs are already bulky.
Despite its compactness, the Å koda Yeti packs a punch when it comes to the interior. Thanks to its intelligent and variable seating in the rear of the vehicle. This makes it a fully-fledged first car, a family car or an original and practical recreational vehicle. With its variable seating system and removable trunk, it shows many compact SUVs, including the Audi Q3, Ford Kuga, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Renegade, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka X and Seat Ateca, how to do it it can be made more spacious, sportier or simply more practical with the box shape.
The Skoda Yeti is available in two different body variants, as a civilian Yeti and as a Yeti Outdoor with rustic plastic planks. This version looks like an all-wheel drive version, but you can order it with front-wheel drive as well. It also makes a lot of sense to only drive one axle of the Yeti, because it is mostly driven on the road anyway, where it is more fun with the tightly tuned chassis and its 105 to 170 hp engines than you might think at first look. This is another reason for the great success of the first SUV from Skoda and why it makes a good tow car.

Towing Capacity of Skoda Yeti
With the Yeti, the Czech VW subsidiary successfully entered the lucrative SUV business in 2009. With an emphatically friendly design - see the separate round headlights - the manufacturer wanted to counter the rather aggressively designed competitor models with something forgiving. With success: The Yeti blossomed into a top-selling model, although the successor, announced for the IAA 2017, is already in the starting blocks, will be bigger and will have a different name: Karoq.
The Yeti is currently available with a 1.2 and a 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine (110 hp and 125 hp), only the 150 hp version is linked to an all-wheel drive. The 2.0-litre diesel (SCR catalytic converter) with either 110 or 150 hp is available with front and 4x4 drive. However, the most fuel-efficient Yeti is the weaker 2.0 TDI with front-wheel drive, which makes the list with a standard value of 4.4 litres. The most frugal petrol engine is the 1.2 TSI with 110 hp (5.4 litres). The fastest is the Yeti with 150 hp diesel and front-wheel drive, it can reach speeds of up to 199 km/h. When it comes to acceleration, the more powerful TSI 1.4 has the edge, sprinting to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.
The Yeti, which went on sale as Skoda's fifth series from the summer of 2009, was also a pioneer in terms of slimmed-down off-road capability among SUVs: the basic petrol engine of the 4.23 meter long car was only available with front-wheel drive, and the basic diesel was also available as a 2x4 version order. Like the VW Tiguan, the 4x4 versions were delivered with a Haldex clutch, which ensures automatic power distribution between the axles.
Initially there were very few engines under the hood of the Yeti, but they enabled decent driving performance, especially the powerful diesel. There was a choice of two petrol engines with 105 or 160 hp from displacements of 1.2 or 1.8 litres, as well as a 2.0-litre diesel engine in three output levels with 110 hp, 140 hp and 170 hp.
How much weight can a Skoda Yeti tow?
The Skoda Yeti is capable of towing up to 2000kg. This is a braked value; if a vehicle is rated to tow that much in the first place, its maximum weight without employing trailer brakes is 750 kg.
