Volkswagen (VW) ID.5 Towing Capacity & Weight Limits

Since the beginning of 2022, the Volkswagen ID.5 and the sportier VW ID.5 GTX variant have been seen on the roads around the UK and Europe. These cars are all based on the modular electrical kit (MEB). The ID.5 electric cars are presented as a so-called crossover coupé version of the popular VW ID.4. With 21-inch wheels and short overhangs, the electric car is supposed to look more dynamic and exciting. There are three drive options which ensure sufficient power: with rear-wheel drive and 128kw or 150kw and a top speed of 160 km/h each, or as a dynamically positioned GTX with 220kw and all-wheel drive, limited to 180 km/h.

The ID.5 was launched as a direct comparison competitor to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Genesis EV60. In terms of range, the ID.5 with a 77 kWh battery can be expected to cover up to 520km. For comparison, VW specifies a range of 487 to 517 km for the ID.4. VW has increased the charging capacity slightly compared to the ID.3 and ID.4 from 125 kW to 135 kW. In half an hour, a range of 300 km should flow into the battery. The wallbox can be charged with up to 11 kW. What is more exciting is the fact that bidirectional charging is possible at home.
